Where do the Dolphins go from here?
The Dolphins had ten days to get ready to face a 1-3 Titans team, and were unable to find that rhythm.
That final statistic was the worst, at least for Miami’s faithful.
Tannehill, playing behind a banged up offensive line that was without Branden Albert and Laremy Tunsil, was sacked six times and threw two interceptions.
“Do I like it?” All we have to do is come to work and get better each and every day.
“Coach has confidence in me, and I have confidence in myself”, said Tannehill in response to Gase’s comments. “You can ask me 100 times“. So what if anything can the Dolphins do to get back on track going forward this season?
The Titans defense brought it’s A-game to South Beach. Led by running back DeMarco Murray’s 121 yards, the Titans ran for 235 yards. Marcus Mariota completed 13 of 29 passes for 202 yards, no touchdowns against one interception. “I have to play my game, keep my focus on the things I need to do and play for the guys around me”, he said.
The former OR star is accustomed to playing hurry-up.
“We just felt like he was running, making some runs”, Mularkey said of Murray.
Gase explained the Dolphins’ defense hasn’t been able to attack opponents because they’ve been on the field for so long and have rarely been on the field with a lead, something that allows defenses to play more aggressively. “It was a good win, a good win on the road, ” Mularkey said of his team. We think we’re in the end zone to be down by three and we get a holding call.
On the other hand, the Dolphins signal-caller had a more hard time.
“We’re inept right now”, Gase said. “There’s nothing really great that I can point to in this game, especially for the offense”.
Miami evened the score 7-7 on rookie Jakeem’s 74-yard punt return for his first career touchdown.
“For us, it’s one game at a time“.
It’s always good to see a head coach stand by his guy, but there’s no denying the quarterback play down in Miami has left a lot to be desired. Fans want to blame everyone but the Dolphins quarterback for his failures over the past five years, but it’s time for everyone to realize Tannehill himself is the problem – not the solution. Damien Williams provided the lone bright spot with a 50-yard catch-and-run.
This drive from Tennessee began a little exchange between the two teams as the Dolphins struck back with a touchdown of their own as Jay Ajayi ran it in from 4 yards out.
That tie, however, was short-lived, as Tennessee raced 75 yards in just six plays to score 52 seconds before the half for a 21-14 advantage. When it’s all said and done, the Dolphins barely outlast the Titans 24-21.
SUDDEN STRIKES: Miami would have been shut out if not for three big plays.
“The whole National Football League is a mess, isn’t it?” We have to win back-to-back and we’re 2-3, below.500.
“You better play this thing out”. “You never know what is going to happen”.
