Vinatieri, Colts leg out 29-23 victory over Bears

October 15 23:02 2016

“They moved on. So you have to move on, too”.

The first-half fireworks did not stop. Hilton will have a tougher matchup against the Texans in Week 6.

Vinatieri’s fifth field goal, a 46-yarder with 2:28 to play, extended the lead to 29-23.

The Colts forced Vinatieri to bail them out because Luck was sacked for a 7-yard loss when they had the ball at Chicago’s 1-yard line on one drive. A year ago it was against the Raiders at Soldier Field with 2016’s first victory also coming in Week 4, this time against the Lions. Incredibly, Luck was flagged for a delay of game coming out of a timeout with 2:39 to play and the Colts facing a third-and-4 at the Bears 23. And they paid the price for it in the end.

Meredith may be worth getting excited about, but it’s really hard to know because as impressive as his 9-130, 14.4, 1 TD outing was in Indianapolis, it came against such a bad team in a losing effort he helped create.

The Chicago Bears take on the Indianapolis Colts in one of the National Football League games on Sunday, October 9, 2016 start time at 1:00 PM ET, at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana. Moore was starting in part because the Colts did not re-sign Jerrell Freeman, who ended up with the Bears, and finding someone to line up alongside D’Qwell Jackson at inside linebacker will be a battle among several players in practice this week. It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but it looks the same in the record book. Chicago’s defense has also taken a hit and could be in for a long day against Andrew Luck and TY Hilton but if the Colts offensive line can’t keep Luck upright and the Bears defense can generate some pressure than this game could come down to the wire. A play-action fake to Frank Gore, sprung a wide open Dwayne Allen for the touchdown reception. The make from Vinny was his eight straight from at least 50 yards. Hoyer instead threw to Cameron Meredith, who could not make the catch.

John Fox’s first two seasons in Chicago have followed a similar script in the first quarter of the season. Prime fade route/slant territory for the big, physical receiver, right? Perhaps the most important stat of Hoyer’s 2016 season thus far is that he has yet to throw an interception. By comparison, quarterback Brian Hoyer threw the ball 43 times, and only some of those throws can be attributed to playing catch-up late.

Jay Cutler is now out with a thumb injury, something the he claims is ‘significant.’ Nevertheless, it does place him in a predicament where a scenario could even see him being traded to the Miami Dolphins. Not only that, but Jeffery had beaten Davis and would have been all alone for a TD.

Bears quarterback Brian Hoyer played well against the Colts. Once again, the Bears’ run-pass ratio was questionable, as rookie Jordan Howard only received 16 carries despite running for 118 yards, an average of 7.4 yards per carry. It appears that giving Luck whatever he wants in his contract is well worth it, regardless of what his delusional general manager says to try to save his job.

“You’ve seen the play just like I’ve seen the play”, Jeffery said. I’ll be sipping all day. Cre’Von LeBlanc was credited with two pass breakups. Furthermore, why bench a player who’s lacking performance was better than their back up?

Hoyer just missed him, because he never looked at him.

“I thought that was a great effort by our defense”, said Hicks, who felt like the Bears played well enough to shutout the Lions in the first half. “I don’t think that’s on one guy”.
