The Huskers are taking on the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday, and early on in this game, Reilly was streaking down the sidelines. The Hoosiers lead this series 9-7-3 despite losing four straight, a stretch that includes a 69-17 blowout in the last meeting (1978).

“He said from a leadership standpoint, “your young, small quarterback just was yelling at the center” which the referee thought was good, ” Wilson said.

The Huskers had been recruiting the 6-foot-1 outside hitter from West Des Moines, Iowa, for a few years now, and she committed to NU after making one more visit to Lincoln last weekend for the Huskers’ home matches against IN and Purdue.

He described the catch in one word.

QB: Tommy Armstrong’s numbers were pretty ugly.

Coming close, making small mistakes, is no longer acceptable.

Chris Jones had a pick six, and a really nice pass breakup on fourth down to kill an IN drive. Nebraska led the nation in fourth-quarter scoring margin, with a 78-6 advantage.

“What I know about them personally is the fact they do whatever they can to steal defensive signals”, Banker said after Tuesday’s practice.

After that touchdown, everything slowed down for NU. Four guys came up the middle, and Nebraska only had three blockers to protect Caleb Lightbourne.

Nebraska has yet to play IN, coached by Kevin Wilson, since arriving IN the Big Ten.

IN got a quick first down, ran up to the line scrimmage and tried to get a play off but the officials blew the play dead saying that “the officials were not in position” when the quarterback snapped the ball.

This year, the Huskers have raced out to a 5-0 start. Devine Redding scored on a 33-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, to pull the Hoosiers back within two. That cut the deficit to 24-22.

Newby carried the load on the drive, while Armstrong added a big 12-yard run on the second play of the drive and a key fourth-down conversion at midfield to drain the clock.

That play was part of a strong game for Jones and the entire Nebraska secondary.

This time, on a third and nine from their own 28 yard line. The vaunted ground game is back, record-setting quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr.is playing well and in less than two months, Nebraska has gone from unranked to being one of the conference’s hottest teams — and topics. As a team, IN ranks 73rd nationally with 169.6 rushing yards allowed per game. All the Hoosiers could muster after that was Redding’s 4-yard TD catch that made 24-22 with 8:26 to play, and the Cornhuskers played keep away the rest of the game. He explained that the extra week off was just what the Huskers needed to recuperate from a few injuries.

“I’m extremely excited about the will to win that this team has, how hard they play, the resiliency they show and kind of the clutch attitude and poise they keep in the fourth quarter”, coach Mike Riley said. They’re also a team that has some egregious splits throughout their statistical profile. Westerkamp is a tremendous player and became the go-to target for Armstrong.

But after a video review, and a lot of Hoosier fan yelling, the Huskers retained possession. It ultimately resulted in a 39-yard field goal by Drew Brown to put the Huskers up 27-22.

Offensively, Indiana football is averaging 293.0 yards in passing and 160.6 yards in rushing.

“There is so much football we have to do better, and at the same time I wouldn’t trade this group for anything”, Riley said.
