This is the big day, the Lady Gaga album is available in stores and melty has given you his criticism of this pop-country album. It’s an hidebound Nineties soft-rock compilation, heavy on guitar: Meet Lilith Gaga, who goes for both the incense-and-patchouli beatnik aura of Sarah McLachlan and the cowgirl gleam of Shania Twain. The whole “most personal album yet” thing kinda ends there though. “This tragedy stayed with my family a long time”. What strikes us even more is that everything Lady Gaga touches is pretty much gold. ‘Joanne’ is not a concept album but there’s an clear theme.
“I didn’t anticipate how deep it was gonna run in terms of emotionally”, Gaga tells Radio.com. Coming after Artpop and Cheek to Cheek, however, Joanne faces unfairly high expectations from Gaga fans and critics alike, and matches them with moderate success.
And now Gaga has honoured Trayvon in her new song, in which she sings “Angel down, angel down/Why do people just stand around?”
Compare ‘Joanne’ to recent 2016 pop albums from Britney Spears or Ariana Grande, and you’ll notice how different it sounds.
Check out some throwback photos of Gaga and her Bravo pals, below. It’s a cry for help but also a granted dedication to hope, being a believer, and fighting for what’s justifying and right.
Can you believe how attractive this song is?
Hey Girl has the only feature on the album from Florence Welch, and it’s so incredible how well Lady Gaga and Florence’s voices together. In my mind, I can’t reckon it.
She was backed by a band that included Mark Ronson, who produced the new album, and Hillary Lindsey, who co-wrote with Gaga. But it is his overall production that’s brilliant.
It’s clear that when Gaga is in the studio, magic happens. Now, finally, Gaga is set to unveil the song in the second show of her Dive Bar Tour tonight in anticipation of the album release tomorrow.
Could Lady Gaga be talking about Bravo’s own Pinot Grigio girl herself?
Gaga’s album ‘Joanne’ is available on streaming services Apple Music or Spotify.
