PFW Matchup Breakdown: Minnesota Vikings vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have lost two in a row, but it’s hard to point the finger directly at Wentz and say he is the reason why they lost. The Eagles started 3-0, but are now on a two-game losing streak. Yet, throughout the entire offseason, Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Doug Pederson, and Howie Roseman emphatically stated that Bradford was their starting quarterback.

The Vikings may be the only undefeated team left standing, but they’re not celebrating just yet. “We obviously have to make the necessary corrections and move past [them]”. Stick around. We’ve got all of the pre-game analysis before the matchup.

“When you go up against a Coach Zimmer defense, it’s always the biggest challenge of the year”, said Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich. “He’ll be a good matchup for us inside, so we’re looking forward to getting out there”. “And the guys are working down the field”, he said. The Vikings started the season 5-0 and got a well-deserved bye in Week 6 for their efforts. Minnesota won that game 17-14, but the rest of their wins have come by at least nine points, and three of their five wins have come by double digits.

Aaron Rodgers threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns. He was sacked 5 times and went 11 for 22 on 179 yards. Also, the Eagles had the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Carson Wentz, waiting and ready to play. Bradford has only been sacked eight times to this point, while Wentz has been taken down in the backfield 12 times.

“Everyone in this locker knew about the talent that he has”, said Ertz. I’ve got to make better decisions, be more accurate, have to get the guys going a little better, too. Minnesota has had 324 plays against their defense and they’ve given up 1,438 total yards, ranking their defense 2nd overall. “I feel like Sam, given this opportunity he’s excelled, he’s done well. So my approach is just to treat it as I would any other game”. “It’s just like he might have an advantage with some of the things that we’re doing here or with the personnel”. To be honest, I don’t think it’s anything they’re really anxious about. Whoever plays or whoever wins, this one played better than that one, this and that and the other, and the decisions – I get all that.
