The Trump Organization, which runs hotels, golf courses and other lines of Trump-branded businesses, is developing a new line of hotels that won’t bear the name of their founder.
Though room rates during the soft-opening soared above $750 per night, they have since dropped to about $400 for the “Deluxe” and “Premier” rooms, according to the hotel’s website.
Instead, Trump trotted out military officials who endorsed him at a press conference, making only a brief remark about how he believes Obama was born in the U.S. He then ended the press conference without fielding questions and barred reporters from touring the hotel with him.
Formally opening the Trump International Hotel in Washington, which has been in business since September, Trump said he would bring the same principles to running the federal government that he has used as a real estate developer.
