Luzerne County’s election office mailed more than 6,000 absentee ballots by Tuesday afternoon, leaving only absentee voting requests that have arrived since last weekend to process, officials said.

The S.C. State Election commission is reminding voters who will vote absentee by mail to submit their applications as soon as possible and encourages they be sent by today to make sure voters can complete the mail-in process.

Early voters should put their voted early ballot in the mail no later than Wednesday, November 2 to ensure that it is received in time to be counted.

Completed absentee ballots must be returned to the election office by 5 p.m. on November 4. You may want to check online or call ahead to your county destination. Complete the ballot, have it witnessed – with the complete address of the witness – attach a copy of your ID and mail the ballot so your clerk receives it by 8 p.m. election day.

That provisional ballot is sealed until the challenge is answered, either by allowing the ballot (also a double envelope) to be unsealed and counted or thrown out. Almost 480,000 Tennesseans had cast ballots through the first four days of early voting, up from the 388,000 who went to the polls through the same period in the 2012 election.

“Any allegations of a “rigged” election as they pertain to Madison County, or for that matter the entire state of IL, are completely unfounded”, Mendoza stated in the release.

A voter also may appoint a “designated bearer” to submit a ballot on his behalf.

For Leonard, Payne and the rest of the board of elections, early voting has been and continues to be their priority.

McCabe said the 3 p.m. deadline on November 7 is to allow time for her staff to receive the ballot and notify the appropriate municipal clerk that there has been a vote cast.

It may take some time to get unofficial election results in Fairfax County after our polls close at 7 p.m. Polls are only open from 7 a.m.to 8 p.m. on November 8.

Federal law prohibits intimidating or bribing voters, buying and selling votes, altering vote tallies, stuffing ballot boxes and marking ballots for voters against their wishes.

On election day, voters should vote at their assigned polling place.

Voters must be age 18 by election day, be a US citizen, not in prison or on parole or probation for conviction of a felony, treason or bribery. Voting is one of our most fundamental rights as citizens. However, there are 19 acceptable reasons for voting absentee, including military service, illness, being away from home, pregnancy, a long commute that would keep you from getting to the polls, and more.
