Hillary Clinton wasn’t secretary of state at the time, and there is no evidence in the emails that ETs gained any official concessions in terms of US policy other than potentially the good will of the next president. At the same time, he would urge them to provide lucrative speaking fees for an address by the former president, usually in the six-figure range.
Now the Post has given us the new phrase “Circle of Enrichment” to describe how the foundation’s operatives have filled Bill’s pockets with millions of corporate dollars for doing little more than being Hillary’s political husband. As long ago as 1979, the wife of then-Arkansas governor Bill Clinton was resigning herself to having the public misconstrue her actions or take them badly.
So who told Clinton to use a private server? As a foundation board member, Chelsea Clinton helped arrange for an audit of the foundation’s operations.
UBS Wealth Management, a Teneo client, contributed $540,000 to the foundation between 2005 and 2011, Band writes. Mr. Putin asked at an event in Sochi.
CGI held its final meeting last month – the Clintons shut it down to avoid criticism from Trump and other political adversaries – but the details of the close mingling of public and private fundraising show a tawdry side that some advisers warned could cause problems for Hillary Clinton. Though all signs are that Hillary Clinton is going to tamp all this down.
Band laid out his entire history – as he saw it – with the Clinton family, beginning with a seven-year effort to raise money for the Clinton library and endowment.
In the memo, Band depicts himself as the indispensable linchpin of the Clinton family’s finances even as he acknowledges that the arrangement is unusual: “We appreciate the unorthodox nature of our roles”, Band wrote.
“All told, this amounted to “more than $50 million in for-profit activity” and “$66 million in future contracts, should he choose to continue with those engagements”. Podesta doesn’t escaped unscathed either, as he sent an email with the subject header “Needy Latinos and 1 easy call”. Tanden, president of the liberal think tank Center for American Progress founded by Podesta, has some of the most colorful emails in the almost 30,000 that have been released thus far. As former U.S. Secretary of State and senator for the state of New York, Clinton is among the most qualified candidates to ever run for president.
“John needs to change his password immediately, and ensure that two-factor authentication is turned on his account …”
Ahead of the IL primary in March, liberal operative Neera Tanden asked Podesta, who formerly worked on Obama’s transition in 2008, if the president could give any kind of indication that he was supporting Clinton over Sanders.
After the e-mail arrived in Podesta’s account, it appears that his chief of staff, Sara Latham, sought guidance from an IT worker with the Clinton campaign.
The Obama administration recently blamed senior Russian officials for orchestrating a string of hackings at the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
As one would expect, the State Department insisted that the Obama-Clinton e-mails “have not been determined to be classified”.
Titled “Background on Teneo and Foundation Activities”, the 12-page memo was never meant to go public – the phrase “Attorney Client Privilege” was emblazoned on the top of the document. According to Band, that included: $4.3 million from Coca-Cola, $780,000 from the Dow Chemical Company, $540,000 from the Swiss bank UBS and more.
