Ex-Bill Clinton aide memo roils wife’s campaign over ethics

Regardless of any new ethics restrictions imposed on the Clinton Foundation if Hillary becomes president, hundreds of millions of dollars already have been donated by individuals, companies and governments with an interest in US policy under the next administration. Two issues she has been unable to put firmly behind her are her exclusive use of a private email server while secretary of state and allegations of influence peddling through her family’s Clinton Foundation.

The attorney’s audit did find problems with potential conflicts of interest, and management problems at the Foundation, which reportedly ended up adopting many of their recommendations.

Don’t expect to hear much more from either campaign about their rivals’ foundation follies.

John Podesta, whose private email accounts was breached by what are believed to be Russian hackers, was advised by an aide to update his password after receiving what was believed to be a “legitimate” warning from Google advising him to do so.

Band’s memo also documents the interlocking relationship between the Clinton Foundation’s corporate contributors, Teneo clients and Bill Clinton’s personal wealth. At the time she sent her memo, Chelsea was concerned that Band and his colleagues were using the meetings of the high-profile Clinton Global Initiative to troll for clients for their strategic business advice.

It’s true, of course, that the Clintons’ family foundation has done measurable good around the world (particularly when compared to the cash machine that passes for The Trump Foundation).

Band, who called Chelsea a “spoiled brat”, wasn’t happy at all to be questioned by lawyers from Simpson Thacher.

“Mr. Band called the
arrangement ‘unorthodox.’ The rest of us call it outright corruption”, Trump said. UBS, a Clinton Foundation donor and Teneo client, paid Bill Clinton around $2 million in speaking fees between 2011 and 2015. This “evolved into a personal advisory services business relationship for President Clinton”, in which Clinton got paid $3.5 million a year to serve as the company’s honorary chairman. Not long afterwards, Tanden apparently asked Podesta why Clinton’s private emails weren’t automatically sent to the National Archives, in accordance with record-keeping rules. Moscow has denied involvement.

Critics have raised concerns about the multiple roles of Clinton aides. In 2012, Band hired Huma Abedin, the woman who travels everywhere with Hillary Clinton, to work for Teneo.

The latest disclosures have added to a drip-drip of WikiLeaks revelations plaguing Hillary Clinton in the final stretch of her run for the White House as the Democratic nominee. “It also clearly shows that Teneo never received any financial benefit or benefit of any kind from doing so”, the statement said. It is not clear what Mook meant by the cryptic statement, which he made in an exchange with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.

Chelsea Clinton has previously said her mother wants to extend Obama care to all aliens, legal or illegal. Do you know what their plan is for that?

In 1996, Clinton made a speech in New Hampshire touting the 1994 crime bill her husband passed into law. “It’s a discussion that should be had at some point in my view”. Clinton ultimately did not go, and the email conversation was about her backing out at the last minute.

Chelsea’s blast email of November 1 was a request for a number of top staffers to call Bill Clinton at home on Whitehaven Street in Washington to figure out how to sort out the conflict-of-interest business going forward.
