Letters: For Bernie backers, Clinton’s the best choice

The message came from Bill Clinton’s former senior advisor, Joel Johnson, to Clinton campaign chair John Podesta. “He is more for the working-class person, and that’s what I am”. In the 2012 election, just 136,040 write-in votes were cast and tabulated, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Sanders started his OH swing in Mahoning County at Youngstown State University where he addressed a crowd of around 250.

It’s hard to see Sanders – who “honeymooned” in Soviet Russia – exploiting Trump’s coziness with Vladimir Putin like Clinton has, especially given his own sympathies for Cuba’s Fidel Castro and Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega.

The three students all said they support Sanders and are not sure if there is a current candidate who shares their viewpoints on a variety of issues.

The singer has always been politically outspoken and he says that while Clinton is far from ideal, she represents a much better choice than the alternative – Republican candidate Donald Trump.

The news that Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile resigned from CNN after a WikiLeaks email revealed that she had leaked primary debate questions to Clinton’s camp has strengthened the group’s conviction that they were cheated.

Some of these talking points, particularly the “Obama betrayer” argument, were used by the Clinton campaign in the heated primary against Sanders.

We’ll have much more on the appearance by Bernie Sanders on 9&10 News at 5 and 6.

“I understand that a lot of people are discouraged by this campaign, and some people are going to sit it out”.

Sanders told the audience that the work of transforming the county has to continue after next week’s election.

On Friday afternoon, Clinton is scheduled to attend a “get out the vote” rally at a time and place not yet announced. Sanders said he and Feingold would like to team up on reducing student debt, creating paid family leave, shrinking corporate tax loopholes, and other issues. The Vermont Senator claimed that Clinton was proposing for those who make less than $120,000 a year, roughly 83% of the population should get free college tuition.

“Today, when we talk about public education, it is not good enough to talk about first-grade through 12th-grade”, Sanders said. “But I think, if Trump gets elected, the world will laugh at us”.
