Huawei Mate 9 camera samples leaked ahead of launch

There are some areas where the Mate 9 Porsche Design stays ahead of the curve in comparison to the standard Mate 9.

The handset looks thinner when compared with the previous counterparts with power and volume control buttons visible. On the front, you have the earpiece and selfie camera module above the display. Huawei Mate 9 will be available in white, gold, graphite, pink and black colors. Although the Leica branding is absent, a dual-sensor main imaging unit uses 20MP/12MP sensors with a 8MP f/1.9 camera for gurning selfies. There are only a few significant changes that fans will notice on the photos, and these include the main (back) dual-camera setup produced by Huawei’s partner, Leica.

It also has four directional microphones – this is great for the audio recording app, as they each record to a different channel, allowing you to mute background noise or a specific voice.

Huawei has also added other features to the camera, such as contrast focus, hybrid auto-focus, laser auto-focus and depth focus feature, which adds DSLR-like blur effects. There are lots of online leaks available on the internet; hence it becomes easy to predict the features of Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro. For selfies, it comes with a 8 Megapixel front camera. Huawei has managed to become the third largest smartphone maker globally, especially due to its impressive smartphones, including Mate 8, Mate S and P9. Dubbed the Porsche Design Huawei Mate 9, this version of Huawei’s new phone will come with a 5.5-inch, 2k curved display with a 2560×1440 resolution. Sort of. This phone will cost you €1,395 when it hits Porsche Design stores later this year, which equates to approximate £1,235 before tax.

Under the hood of the Mate 9 is some serious stuff, with the Kirin 960 chipset, blazingly fast octa-core processor and the right amount of RAM to go with it. The SoC features the recently unveiled ARM Mali-G71 GPU, coupled with 4GB of RAM.

There’s a Dual-SIM slot (with room for an additional 256GB of storage on top of the included 64GB) and a Smart Touch fingerprint sensor on the rear.

Huawei confirmed that the Porsche Design Mate 9 does not come with microSD card for memory expansion.

Its connectivity options include 4G, LTE, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, NFC, GLONASS, Wi-Fi Direct, WLAN, Bluetooth, USB OTG, and USB Type-C.

The Huawei Mate 9 Pro will wear a 5.50-inch AMOLED curved display and both the smartphones are supposed to run on the newest Android 7.0 Nougat with Huawei’s EMUI surface atop it. However, there is no word on the Indian availability.
