It’s Election Day for one of the most contentious presidential elections in history, and voters are headed to the polls in droves. Eleven per cent went for Donald Trump.
He also needs to win at least one of the following battlegrounds – New Hampshire, Colorado, Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Minnesota. There are 168 electoral votes up for grabs, and the victor of this race will need to earn a lot of them to take home the ultimate prize; a new home at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Over the next 90 minutes or so, a burst of results from some 30 states accounting for dozens of electoral votes will further fill in the red and blue electoral map.
In a presidential campaign that focused more on the character of the candidates than on policy, Clinton, 69, a former USA secretary of state, and Trump, 70, a NY businessman, accused each other of being fundamentally unfit to lead the country. The lead has swung between both candidates for the past half hour. At this time, the polls don’t give much more information about who will win than there has been over the course of the past several weeks.
“Years from today, when your kids and grandkids ask what you did in 2016, when everything was on the line, I want you to be able to say that you did vote”, Clinton said in Philly. On average, she won female voters in each of those 23 states by 26 percent over Sanders, a margin Lake attributed to women’s preference for Clinton’s agenda focused on children and families, for a female candidate, or for a unifying tone. Ohio, a fallen industrial powerhouse, is historically Democratic territory while North Carolina tends to vote Republican.
This is because the Democrats have more states with more electoral votes that can be relied on to vote Democrat every election (such as California). The Tennessean endorsed “the legitimacy of the USA electoral system” rather than either candidate – although Trump is expected to win the state.
In Florida alone, Hispanic participation is up by more than 453,000 votes, almost doubling the 2012 level. Former President George W Bush and wife Laura Bush declined to back Trump, instead selecting “none of the above” when they voted for president, according to spokesman Freddy Ford. She cast herself as heir to President Barack Obama’s legacy and pledged to make good on his unfinished agenda, including passing immigration legislation, tightening restrictions on guns and tweaking his signature health care law.
Trump brought it up at a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, another battleground state.
But the spotlight was not always kind to Trump.
Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Jr., told CNN that he thinks his father will “remain involved somewhat” if he loses the election.
In a mock endorsement video, Kimmel spliced old interview clips together of Trump complimenting Hillary and Bill Clinton, making it seem as though he was supporting her for president.
Google is also a great way of keeping track of results and breaking news of the 2016 Presidential Election with its Google Trends website, which not only shows predictions based on search results, but offers loads of information on the candidates, and live election results.
Results will start coming in as poll locations close, the earliest of which will be in Kentucky and in where polls are set to start closing at 6 p.m. EST.
The poll of about 35,000 people found that 25 percent of voters picked the economy as the “most important problem.”. As long as you are in line before the polls close, you will be allowed to vote in this election.
