His boss and former Real Madrid player Zinedine Zidane was delighted to announce the news today.
A day after signing a bumper fresh contract with Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo has boosted his mind-boggling earnings with a new deal with Nike, the American sports giant said on Tuesday, November 8 (Wednesday in Manila).
Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo, right, poses with the club’s President Florentino Perez after signing a new contract at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, Spain, Monday, Nov. 7, 2016. The FC panel assess how viable he can be down the road.
If not Madrid though, what’s next for Ronaldo?
Ronaldo now sits atop the Real Madrid all-time scoring list with 372 goals in 360 appearances, this since he joined the Spanish club from Manchester United back in 2009 for a then-record transfer fee of $132 million. “It was a year full of emotions and I can’t ask for any more than having won the Champions League, the European Championship [with Portugal], renewing my contract with Real Madrid and picking up this prize”.
Alongside Ronaldo there are 12 players who will be over 30 when their current deals end but none will exceed the Portuguese’s age.
The three-time world player of the year is Madrid’s all-time leading scorer with 372 goals in 360 matches.
The Gelsenkirchen-born midfielder joined the Gunners in 2013 following a three-year spell at the Spanish capital and following a hard start, he has become one of the top players in the league.
He said: “To score or not score is not so important. One of the greatest footballers in the world or perhaps in the game’s history”.
“But I am. I have good moments and other moments which aren’t so good”.
Ozil has been key to them sitting so closely, scoring three goals in 10 league games so far, and they will need him to maintain that if they are to end up as champions this season.
Speaking about his future at the Bernabeu, Ronaldo added: “What I most want is to continue enjoying the years I have left to play”.
“I still have ten years!”
