At any point you can just press the button again and they’ll stop recording. The LED lights spin while you’re recording. “What if you could go back and see that memory the way you experienced it?”
Snapchat Spectacles work with Android and iOS devices. The videos will appear in the app in a new circular format.
Pairing them to your phone is easy as well. These can be shared via the app to all your Snapchat buddies.
While at these Snapbots, interested customers will also be able to “try on” Spectacles using the cameras and display built into the machines. Snapchat Spectacles will cost $129.99.
The machine itself has a screen, three big buttons to push (one for each color of glasses) and a place to swipe your credit card.
When will Snapchat Spectacles be available? “Soon”, Snapchat said to anybody who asked. They will travel around the United States selling the device. Perhaps your first videos will be of you waiting for a full day in line near a Snapbot for your friend to get a pair.
The first location is on the beach in Venice, California, near Snap’s headquarters. Snapchatters can track Snapbots using a map on the Spectacles website.
Spectacles will only be available through Snapbots, which are vending machines that will dispense the product for $130 (plus tax).
Is this Snapchat’s first hardware product?
Snap did not want to take a traditional approach to selling the Spectacles since the company does not know what the public’s general reaction will be yet.
Snapchat began in 2011.
Already, some of those people lucky enough to get their hands on them are taking advantage. Brand and celebrity content is also featured. Snap Inc has not revealed plans to release the Spectacles in the United Kingdom and Europe, yet.
Earlier this morning, a Bot Landing video was released introducing the yellow Minion-like machines that are going to sell the Spectacles throughout the country.
