Clinton’s campaign asks Federal Bureau of Investigation to reveal Trump’s Russian ties

Donald Trump has claimed that Hillary Clinton is likely to be investigated for long and her election would mire the United States government in a constitutional crisis.

“Nothing will get done”, Trump said.

“I am sick and exhausted of the negative, dark, divisive, unsafe vision and behavior from people who support Donald Trump”, Clinton said as another protester was removed from the rally.

Seizing on the investigation, Republican candidate Donald Trump warned Monday that if Clinton were to be elected, the country would face a “constitutional crisis”.

“We would have a criminal trial for a sitting president”, Trump said.

“I am writing to inform you that my office has determined that these actions may violate the Hatch Act, which bars the Federal Bureau of Investigation officials from using their official authority to influence an election”.

Republican Senator Charles Grassley, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, defended the decision by Comey to disclose the new e-mail probe before the election but said it’s not fair to the public to do so without context.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation jolted the USA presidential race Friday with the announcement it was reviewing a new batch of emails that appeared to be pertinent to the Clinton case.

As Hillary Clinton reaches the home stretch of the election well ahead in polling over Donald Trump, new revelations from the FBI’s reopening of the investigation into the Democratic candidate’s emails has shifted the race. “It was not impressive”, one source said of the February presentation.

Huma Abedin (left) had a special employment arrangement at the State Department, as she was allowed to work at outside firm Teneo, while also retaining her State gig with Hillary Clinton (right). It’s possible the messages duplicate those already turned over by Clinton and her team or unearthed by the FBI during its earlier investigation.

Comey, who said he couldn’t guarantee that the latest focus of the investigation would be finished before Election Day, did not provide details about the emails, but a USA official told The Associated Press that the emails emerged through the FBI’s separate sexting probe of Weiner, who is separated from Clinton confidant Huma Abedin. In particular, agents were trying to determine whether donations to the foundation may have been traded for access to Clinton while she was secretary of state.

As per IBD/TIPP, considered to be the most accurate poll, Clinton has the support of 45 per cent of the likely voters as against Trump’s 44 per cent.

Asked if he was surprised about the timing of Comey’s letter, Obama said he had “made a very deliberate effort to make sure that I don’t look like I’m meddling in what are supposed to be independent processes for making these assessments”.

Campaign manager Robby Mook called the report evidence of a “blatant double standard”. The move has drawn scorn from Democrats, but also Republican former Justice Department officials, who argue Comey has violated protocol.

The investigators are using software comparable to a specialized search engine at FBI facilities in Quantico, Virginia, to try to isolate emails on Weiner’s computer that could be pertinent to the Clinton email-server investigation, the law enforcement officials said.
