Sanders, who defied expectations by running a close race against Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, was also scathing in his criticism of the Democratic party’s attempt to ally itself with big money.

Sanders also addressed how the electoral college, not the popular vote, determined who won the presidency – a hotly-contested issue during the days that followed the election. And Werlau says his vote for Johnson wasn’t a spoiler, because he “wasn’t going to vote for Hillary in the first place”. So, I think we’re in a period of very high uncertainty. That means, old ways of thinking and reasoning are not going to suffice.

He was pressed by reporters on some of Trump’s recent hires, notably former Breitbart News chairman Steve Bannon to be a senior adviser and chief strategist.
Sanders said in his statement: “This country, since its inception, has struggled to overcome discrimination of all forms: racism, sexism, xenophobia and homophobia”.
The Vermont senator opposes Trump’s tax policy, which would cut taxes for the top 1% of earners by $317,000 per year, according to the Tax Policy Center.
