Political scientists say about half of all provisional ballots are thrown out and those counted tend to lean Democratic or mirror the general election outcome. Pat McCrory by more than 5,000 votes in that race.
Republican Governor Pat McCrory, who is trailing Democratic challenger Roy Cooper by about 5,200 votes, has refused to concede with ballots still being tallied. Several counties have already rejected the complaints.
“As prescribed by state law, the Board of Elections will give preliminary consideration to these protests as part of its county canvass (on Monday) …” That was to have been done Friday, under state law.
The Bladen County Board of Elections says there is an “overwhelming number” of suspicious ballots that appear to have “overtly similar” handwriting that all voted via write-in for local Democrat Franklin Graham. The state also submitted a request for more than $1 billion in federal disaster recovery aid, and asked that the federal government pick up a larger share of the costs. They defeated nearly all tax hikes on the ballot. Since the allegations surfaced, the McCrory campaign filed protests calling to investigate absentee ballots in 11 other counties where the NCDP donated to similar PACs. He said he chose to hear Stark’s evidence because the county has historically been expansive on hearing election complaints.
Stark said he’s not clear whether he’ll seek court orders to inspect the vote data or what other evidence he might present Friday. We don’t know nothing.

According to Durham County, Posthill’s four protests Friday: “make allegations that ineligible voters cast ballots that ballots were improperly scanned and that absentee ballots were improperly cast on behalf of another”. But that delay will still come after McCrory’s camp protested election results in 52 counties, citing possible voter fraud. “These desperate attempts to disenfranchise voters must stop”.
In a closely divided swing state which Donald Trump won with slightly over 50% of the vote and President Obama lost in 2012 by 2 percentage points, the McCrory campaign has also voiced suspicions about 90,000 votes delivered late on election night from heavily Democratic Durham County.
“Roy Cooper’s lead continues to grow stronger”, Cooper’s campaign posted on Facebook Tuesday. “There’s additional cases of voter fraud being discovered each day”.
The Republican-majority Durham County elections board is dismissing a GOP lawyer’s bid to recount 94,000 votes.
All 100 county election boards informed the state that they would need to postpone completion of their vote canvass, which could set off a series of delays in announcing a victor, typically finalized in early December.

Election protests are pending in New Hanover, Brunswick and Bladen counties, as county officials worked to review thousands of provisional ballots cast in the 2016 General Election. He also argued against the recount during Friday’s hearing.
