Microsoft Surface Pro 4 vs MacBook Pro: Dilemma Revisited

Fresh reports are claiming that what may be causing the delay for the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 release is in the new software side. Microsoft’s take on the convertible Tablet PC is widely copied by many, but never truly, fully copied. The tablet concept only worked due to design. It’s now as thin and light as the MacBook Air, but it has a lot more power. On the other hand, the 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600, and the 15-inch version comes with 2,880 x 1,800. You can use the touchscreen, but – as with touchscreen laptops like Dell’s Precision 5510 or HP’s ZBook Studio G3 – the need to stretch to tap the screen means you generally use it for broad gestures: pinch-&-zoom, scrubbing through a timeline, selecting windows.

Apple was one of the companies that laughed at Microsoft’s investments in the Surface lineup from the very beginning, with CEO Tim Cook himself poking fun at the idea of mixing tablets and keyboards. Starting November 24, the usually $999 Surface Pro 4 will now cost $599.

The Apple MacBook Pro is offered with 512GB or 256GB of storage but you can also order the 1TB from Apple directly. Surface Studio, the company’s first all-in-one PC designed for designers, digital artists and other creative professionals, is only available for preorder at its full price. If what they showed in the film Pirates of Silicon Valley were true, Steve Jobs has a centrifuge for a grave. “That’s where I look at any device form factor or any technology, even AI”, he said.

Who could have predicted that you can cool your bread and toast it later? Apple is even billing it as a suitable replacement for a Windows laptop.

Some reports also say that Microsoft has filed a new patent for a Surface Pen support on the Surface Pro 5. While there are no official statements from Microsoft just yet, fans have been eagerly anticipating the two devices as rumors suggest that both the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 and the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 would be packing extremely powerful specs and features.
