The introduction of Instant Games on Messenger, the company believes, will give its users another reason to spend more time within their billion-user-strong messaging app.
The social media giant said there will be 17 titles available at launch including PAC-MAN, Space Invaders, Arkanoid, Galaga, Words with Friends: Frenzy, Track & Field 100M and Shuffle Cats. How do you get games on Facebook Messenger?
Users will now see a game controller icon located just below the message line in the Messenger app, which will allow them to access Instant Games. Instant Games is now available in 30 countries for iOS v8 or later and Android v5 or later. And now, Facebook is incorporating new set of games to bring something new to its users.
Games in Messenger are now free, but Marcus says the company will be looking at “ways for game developers to generate revenue” next year.
Per the expanded partnership, Facebook also promised to help Unity developers more effectively reach gamers on its network.
As for the games, it’s a mixed bag with some awesome classics and… well, other games.
Unfortunately you can’t challenge anyone to “Pac-Man” just yet, unless you’re a part of Facebook’s closed beta.
