The year of the offensive bailout can only do so much for the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings (6-5) were facing third down in the final minute when Slay stepped up in coverage and intercepted Bradford.
The team is now a full game back from the Lions for the division lead and with the Lions having two wins over the Vikings, Detroit really has a two-game lead over Minnesota.
Elliott, the National Football League rushing leader, had the fourth score on five straight second-half touchdown drives between the two teams with a 1-yard run for a 31-19 lead midway through the fourth quarter. “They knew what happened last time we went to overtime”.
“We ruled that (Patterson) was not on the line of scrimmage; he was not breaking the waistline of the snapper”, Chaffers said. “They got us big conversions today, that was huge”. “We can’t continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with some of those penalties and negative plays”. “We’re going to keep fighting”. We’ve gotten into rhythms into the second and third quarters and we’ve been finishing games off, but we’ve got to do a better job to help our defense starting out the game.
That attitude trickled down to the locker room. It would be a stretch to say the refs played a significant role in the outcome of the game. “We feel like we’re working our tails off to get wins”. Detroit has been the ideal representation of that. They have trailed all 11 of their games in the fourth quarter but have won seven of them, including Thursday’s.
Berger has been a regular starter for the Vikings since the middle of the 2014 season.
Why is guard Alex Boone still confident the Vikings can turn things around?
“I did it one time”, Slay said. You lost a heartbreaker like that and it hurts. Believe me, I’m frustrated by it, too.
This off-season, the talk was about how the Vikings were bringing in a big group of offensive linemen and how this was going to build competition and greater depth along the line and how things were going to be an improvement over what we saw from the offensive line in 2015. This is the type of team that can bounce back and we’ve got to prove to everybody we’re fine.
“I don’t know about a shootout, but we need to start a little quicker on offense”, Rodgers said. “I went over (earlier) and actually kicked a couple in the net”. However I will chose the Lions due to more consistency and home field advantage. The coverage units were flawless again, as was Matt Prater, who kicked the game-tying and game-winning field goals within two minutes of each other.
You could certainly look at it a different way, as many Vikings fans probably are as they sit down to Thanksgiving dinner, two last-second losses to the Lions in the past 18 days. Tight end Kyle Rudolph caught nine passes for 64 yards and Adam Thielen gathered in eight passes for 53 yards.
Those three things lead to Bradford believing that he absolutely has to be flawless in order for this team to win, in my opinion.and, quite frankly, he’s right. It’s on each and every one of us. You cant play a ballgame uptight..
The Detroit Lions are a team that slacks off during the entire semester and is staring down a failing grade with just a few weeks left in class.
