Trevor Siemian held out of practice with foot injury

The Jacksonville Jaguars can reach another miserable milestone Sunday against Denver.

Manning regained his health and returned to rally the Broncos past San Diego in the regular-season finale, clinching the AFC’s top playoff seed that proved so pivotal in their Super Bowl run that culminated with a 24-10 win over Carolina for the franchise’s third title. When you play like that you obviously don’t do a good job.

Overall, Siemian was hit a dozen times in the game. Star LB Von Miller leads league with 12 ½ sacks and is one of six players in NFL history with five double-digit sack seasons in first six years.

More so than strength, Siemian’s ball placement on all these deep passes was excellent, as he led his receivers in ideal position often allowing them to pick up extra yardage after the catch. Winning their sixth consecutive AFC West title would require a remarkable finish, as they trail Oakland by two games with five to play.

Siemian demurred when asked if he was anxious he’d miss the game Sunday at Jacksonville (2-9). That said, once he got on a roll there really weren’t many inaccurate throws. “There are totally different things going on here than there was in Denver”.

It starts with outside linebacker Von Miller, who has a league-leading 12.5 sacks, and extends throughout a unit that has gotten to opposing quarterbacks 35 times – more than any other team this season.

DEPLETED BACKFIELD: The Jaguars would like to keep the ball on the ground against Denver, which ranks 27th against the run.

Coach Gary Kubiak said Siemian was placed in a walking boot and is listed as day to day. He didn’t look comfortable until the fourth quarter, when the Falcons led 23-6 and played soft zone coverages that conceded underneath routes. We went no pads again today, just so we can get all periods and go full speed rather than walk through. We’re not going to go in there and do any changes and that type of stuff.

Eric and Les said it best, if he plays for the tie Broncos Country kills Kubiak for being John Fox-like. According to Adam Schefter, Trevor Siemian didn’t practice with the team.

His play has caught the eye of Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash. Lynch and Davis were the Broncos’ quarterbacks during practice Thursday.

Siemian, who’s being fitted for special cleats, will attempt to practice Friday. “Especially on those intermediate routes”.

“He has the ability to get the ball deep to those wide receivers. Right now it’s looking good, but we can always get better”. Thomas has done so four straight years while Sanders has topped that mark in the last two seasons.

Their statuses will continue to be monitored during the week.

PLUCKING BRONCOS: The Jaguars have signed a free agent from Denver in each of the last three seasons, and only defensive tackle Malik Jackson has panned out. Unfortunately for them, losing appears to come much more naturally on the road.
