Ryan Gosling shows Jimmy Kimmel how to waltz on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Stone, 28, shared her experience when she visited the historic theater when she moved to Hollywood at age 15, saying my hands were “an exact match” for “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” actress Jane Russell. They can’t stop running into each other around town, and when they finally, truly connect during a screening of “Rebel Without a Cause” (and subsequent Griffith Observatory jaunt), everything seems to fall into place. Chazelle’s championing of jazz is touching, and he even demands we listen to and enjoy some, which is something even documentaries about jazz musicians have lately not dared to do.

But Chazelle, coming off three Oscar wins for “Whiplash”, succeeded in making his modern-day, millennial spin on the genre, which has won rave reviews from critics. I thought it was great.

ALSO, can we take a moment to discuss the fact that Emma’s cement prints will be forever next to our other favorite human’s prints, Ryan Gosling?! So we were exploring that terrain and always dreamed of doing that terrain. “La La Land” is written and directed by Damien Chazelle.

Watching Stone and Gosling from behind the monitor, “was the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever experienced on a film set”, says Chazelle, who was determined to shoot the dance sequences uncut, in the style of old Hollywood musicals. It definitely veers more on the love side.

STONE: I don’t think films are less than TV now, but there are some awesome characters on TV, so I understand why people want to do TV. “Where are you looking?”

If you already liked Gosling as an actor this is the movie that will make you buy his movie posters.

The first thing you’ll notice is how eye poppingly vibrant this film is.

Gosling grins. “And they told me Emma was going to drop it like it’s hot all the time”. L.A.is a very big sky city, partly because the buildings aren’t that high.

GOSLING: We’ve been asked to improvise a lot in the films that we’ve done together.

If you only see one movie this year, you need to get out more.

“I think we live in complicated times and I think the best of cinema is the kind of cinema that transports you out of your life and takes you on a journey”.

For “La La Land” director Damien Chazelle, the musical film – shot in Cinemascope and Technicolor – needed to find the right balance between the imaginary Los Angeles and the real city.

That’s when the dance-floor magic really happened. She’s a barista/actress/playwright who can’t get through an audition without being interrupted; he’s a jazz pianist with vague plans to open his own club someday, one that hosts only “the purest jazz”. “Maybe not only would they do it individually, but maybe I could have them both do it and reunite them as a pair”.
