Jennifer Hudson left everyone speechless with her fantastic rendition of “I Know Where I’ve Been” during the ‘Hairspray Live!’ show on December 7. Finally, Maddie Baillio will debut as Tracy Turnblad herself.
Hairspray Live tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a teenager in 1960s Baltimore who wins a role on a local TV show.
“Live commercials” (apparently seen as a throwback to the time of the musical) leading into regular commercials was also uncomfortable. The experiment paid off in a big way for NBC, drawing more than 18 million viewers that night. The live musical production was a huge success if social media comments are a gauge. I am careful as to what I download or play on my devices and I take my time and do research for every game.
Unsurprisingly, more shows quickly followed.
This live musical has stars from nearly every area of entertainment.
Again, “Hairspray Live” airs Wednesday night at 8:00 on TV-17. That show reached 11.5 million people.
The easiest way to see Hairspray is to tune into NBC to see it.
But something more than the appeal of presently popular actors is behind the musicals’ successes. “And for this musical, it kind of lends itself to that similar style, I suppose”.

The live broadcast recreated the ’60s in an authentic manner. The three-hour teleplay was penned by Harvey Fierstein, who also featured in the play, and was directed by Live television director Alex Rudzinski accompanied by director Kenny Leon. “Here, you need to very much give up all control” except over one’s own performance, Fierstein said.
