US defense secretary in Israel as country gets F-35 jets

December 14 00:07 2016

Over the past six months, nine F/A-18 Hornet fighter aircraft have crashed in various accidents involving the Royal Canadian Air Force, Swiss Air Force and U.S. Navy and Marines Corps.

On an early morning in the summer of 1967, Israeli Mirage jets screeched across the desert of Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

The Israeli air force is the first in the Middle East to have the planes. Israel is your best and most reliable ally in the Middle East – in my opinion beyond the Middle East.

The F-35 is considered to be the world’s most sophisticated new warplane, equipped with stealth capabilities that allow it to evade or delay detection by the top radar systems. The first two of Israel’s order of 50 will touch down Monday. The cost for these plans is $100 million dollars a piece.

Nearly at the time when the planes were already due to land in Israel, the IDF Spokesperson announced that they did not take off from the Cameri airbase in Italy, where they have stopped on their way from the U.S. since the weekend.

Defense giant Lockheed Martin builds the F-35. The Russian Air Force had to ground a third of its MiG-29s and urgently introduced new and more modern aircraft into its inventory. Please see our terms of service for more information.

Israeli officials say the F-35 will be used for all its missions, in possible future confrontations with Iran, and the militant groups Hezbollah and Hamas.

But that’s not all.

In the next few years, advanced systems developed by Israel’s defense industries will gradually be installed on the stealth fighters.

Israel is most fearful of an accidental encounter and potential loss of air superiority.

The highly anticipated F-35 jets are due to arrive today, making their last preparations in Italy before their final departure to Israel this morning. The Americans demanded that for major maintenance the F-35 will be transferred to technical units in Europe. “It knows how to deal with everything of interest to the Israel Defense Forces outside the borders of Israel”, Yotam added.

Once delivered, the planes will be modified to accommodate Israeli technology, but the plane has faced a series of growing pains, including problems with software, engines and weapons. The landing of the Adir completed Israel’s long effort that is to build its military power for generations to come looking for the long-term.

“Together, we will dominate the skies”, he said.

The F35 is a one seater plane, meaning that most training will take place on special flight simulators on not onboard the aircraft itself.

“It’s a completely different ball game”, said another Israeli air force commander, who briefed reporters on the condition he would not be named.
