“I urge the EC to take further steps in this regard, call for discussions with all the parties and whatever recommendations come out which are in the interest of the country, which are for the sake of honesty and transparency, this government will implement that”, he added.

He added that all cash is not black money, and all black money is not in cash – suggesting that black money is being hoarded by a few families in India, but demonetisation has affected 90 percent of the people, majority of them being the poor.

Modi’s BJP immediately dismissed the allegation, accusing Gandhi of being “angry” and “desperate” after his party suffered successive poll defeats recently.

Instead of hitting at money launderers, demonetization targets poor and honest citizens, he said.

Modi on Thursday mocked him, asking where was the “earthquake” the Congress leader had threatened. “That clearly shows that the people of the country stand with Prime Minister Modi for this change, to make this country corruption free, black money free and Congress free”.

His cavalcade will then leave for DLW Ground where the Prime Minister is schedule to address 35,000 booth-level BJP workers.

The rally was attended by farmers and Congress workers in the northern Gujarat town that has been a Congress stronghold.
