Google to come up with new smartwatches

December 25 11:03 2016

The arrival of the two wearables is set to be followed up by partners releasing their own Android Wear 2.0 devices.

Chang told the Verge that Google teamed up with a manufacturer, which he couldn’t name, which has produced Android Wear devices before.

Google is working right now on developing Android Wear 2.0, in fact the software can be found available in the public beta but once the operating system reaches it’s the final build, the U.S. based company will install it on the two new smartwatches.

Chang likened the partnership between Google and the smartwatch manufacturer to the company’s Nexus program, with the two companies collaborating on both the software integration and hardware design for the devices.

Android Wear has been releasing Android smartwatches for some time and it would seem that Google is thinking about launching two new ones in 2017, which will be their flagship units. New reports suggest that, contrary to rumors, Google has given the manufacturing task to an unnamed company.

Google unveiled Android Wear 2.0 at its I/O developer conference, with the most recent developer preview coming out earlier this month.

Android Wear 2.0 should also support the new Google Assistant voice-controlled service that launched on the Pixel and Pixel XL. In addition he also reveal that, the new watches will be branded by the manufacturer and they do now have “Pixel” branding.

Well, would you get a Google smartwatch when it hits the market, and why? To make it happen, the company is rolling out a wave of update for Android Wear devices.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has failed in catalyzing the smartwatch market over the past year and a half, but I also wouldn’t say that Apple Watch has been a blockbuster success.

Many customers with existing Android Wear watches will get an update to the 2.0 platform.

When the advent of smartwatches had taken place in the world of gadgets, Google had initially lagged behind in competition with companies like Apple and Samsung.

The new devices’ partner announcements will be made at the Baselworld Trade Show and CES 2017.

‘This category of products is here with us to stay’.

Despite sliding sales figures in the wearables market, Google’s still confident that they’re more than a fad.
