Miesha Tate thinks Ronda Rousey shouldn’t get an exception on media demands

Rousey’s return is certain to do big pay-per-view numbers after over a year out of the cage, but White admitted the media blackout was not ideal.

White used to meet with the media for “scrums” at major events, but he has not conducted one in quite some time.

But when you see pictures like this three days before the fight, it’s a little intimidating. “But she just had to deal with this whole thing the way she wanted to deal with it”.

In negotiating her much-anticipated comeback, Rousey stipulated she would do a bare minimum of high-profile appearances.

Amanda Nunes was informed by the UFC that since Ronda Rousey was not participating in Wednesday’s news conference and public workout, Nunes didn’t have to, either. Anything. And if the guys wouldn’t do something, she would pick up the ball and do it herself.

Rousey’s position as a narrow favourite comes in contrast to her recent history as heavy betting chalk.

The former champion’s decision to limit her interactions with journalists was likely pre-determined and thoroughly negotiated with her employers. She’s in great spirits. She’s done a lot for this company. Prior to that loss she was arguably the most dominant champion in the UFC, and she had made it look easy. If she has somehow improved on even that, then the women’s 135-pound division is in for a world of hurt. It’s what she asked for.

She says her success is in a large part due to her supportive girlfriend; UFC strawweight champion fighter, Nina Anasaroff. He has urged Rousey to come into this fight with confidence if she wishes to regain the title. “That would be a flip”, White said.

When the fight between Rousey and Nunes was announced, many wondered if Rousey would be in the right shape to get back into the octagon after taking more than a year off. Critics also were curious to see where he head was at after her lone defeat.

“I left Brazil to follow my dreams as an athlete”, she says. It doesn’t open floodgates. “Just to prove to the doubters that I can do it” – that’s what you want out of a fighter”.

Amanda Nunes might be walking into an ambush.
