Update, Dec. 28, 7:52 p.m. EST: Todd Fisher reportedly told ABC News that his mother “is not OK.”
Ms. Reynolds, who appeared in more than 30 musicals and comedies between 1950 to 1967, was ensnared in Hollywood’s biggest scandal of the day when her husband, Mr. Fisher, left her for actress Elizabeth Taylor.
Carrie Fisher died Tuesday, four days after going into cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles. I admire her strength and survival, I admire that she is alive, that she has chosen to make it.
One of her earlier voice roles, as the titular spider in “Charlotte’s Web”, was also remembered by a generation of kids who watched and rewatched the bittersweet tale on video and television.
Fisher said she chose the three-acre property because she needed an appropriate place to put her large collection of eclectic furnishings-such as oversized leather sofa chairs and paintings of animals in clothes.
Billie Lourd revealed that her mother raised her “without gender” in a touching interview from earlier this year that has since resurfaced.
The actress was with her son, Todd Fisher, discussing funeral plans for her daughter. The following day, Debbie died from a suspected stroke at 84 years old.
Although the phenomenon is most common in married couples, it can also happen to other family members or even very close lifelong friends.
Debbie Reynolds’ son Todd Fisher has said his mother did not die of a broken heart but just “left to be with Carrie“.
“She literally spent her life caring after Carrie“, he added, referring to his sister, who spoke openly about dealing with addiction and bipolar disorder.
“It’s what we want to do, but we’re still working on the mechanics”, he told New York Daily News. Still, it is believed that Carrie having died from heart attack complications was a contributing factor – the anonymous source believe it was simply too much for Reynolds.
There has been much speculation about the cause of the seemingly unsinkable Ms. Reynolds’ death. “I know Eddie had a marvelous time and loved her to the end”, she said.
Her career in cinema was largely over by the 1970s, though she continued to star in TV movies and series. “That sort of warmed my heart and made me feel a lot better”, she told The News. In addition to her role in the “Star Wars” films, Fisher had numerous movie and television parts, was a best-selling author and a legendary script doctor, helping to punch up many movie scripts.
