Established in 1998, the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl has transformed the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day into one of the city’s busiest times of the year for tourism. That would mean more than beating up on a Big Ten school in a mid-tier bowl. Stanford is 2-1 in Sun Bowl, most recently losing to Oklahoma 31-27 in 2009.

But Barnett’s consistent pressure finally paid off, and now he is the record that all newcomers at the University of Tennessee will shoot for.

Barnett received an assist on his record pursuit from teammate Marquill Osborne, who was called for pass interference on a 4th-and-10 play to extend the Nebraska drive and give Barnett an extra opportunity to register the sack. Barnett recorded 21.5 tackles for loss this year, and his play has caught the eye of NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein. Leonard Little set the mark of 53 from 1995 through 1997.

Tennessee announced Thursday it will have a decal for Foltz, the Nebraska punter who died in a auto crash over the summer, on its helmets.

Dobbs left an indelible impression on Tennessee fans, one that makes you realize he will be hard to replace.

And he did, leading the team to its first win over a ranked nonconference opponent in 15 years, then to its first 7-0 start to a season since Frank Solich was the head coach. Tennessee is not ranked in the AP poll, but is No. 21 in the CFP rankings.

Dobbs’ 3-yard scoring run on the fourth quarter’s second play made it 31-14. He said that is when hopes of playing in the Sugar Bowl went away.

MINNESOTA: Ten suspended players will not face charges in connection with September’s alleged sexual assault near campus, prosecutors in Hennepin County said after taking a second look at the case that triggered suspensions, possible expulsions, talk of a bowl boycott by players and questions of whether coach Tracy Claeys should continue with the program.

Tennessee has won three of its last four games but did cap the season with a loss to Vanderbilt, which finished just 6-6 and 3-5 in SEC play.

20 Bowls against SEC teams for Nebraska when the Cornhuskers take the field against Tennessee.

He was rewarded for his patience by being able to run right into an open end zone and extend his team’s lead over the Cornhuskers.

Speaking of accomplishments on the defensive side of the ball, one feat was achieved by a Volunteer defender.

The Vols saved their best to last. The streak is the longest in Tennessee history.

It will also encourage returning players to not only know what it takes to play like they did against Nebraska, but to be consistent and be ready to play every game. Quarterback Tommy Armstrong, Jr. has been battling a hamstring injury for a while now and is not expected to start. In total, Nebraska allowed over 100 less yards per game than Tennessee did.

Even so, Armstrong, like Westerkamp, departs with his name tattooed on the school’s record book. The Cornhuskers still hit some big plays which led to most of their 24 points, but today the Vol defense did too.
