Firstly, Tango (formerly named Project Tango in-testing) is a technology platform developed and authored by Google that uses computer vision to enable mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to detect their position relative to the world around them without using Global Positioning System or other external signals.
To take those measurements of the world around it, the ZenFone AR is fitted with three rear cameras: the primary one is a powerful 23-MP camera, capable of shooting 4K video, and that’s supported by another for tracking motion and another for sensing depth.
The Asus Zenfone AR packs 3300mAh battery that also has Quick charge 3.0 support.
The second notable handset revealed by Asus is the ZenFone 3 Zoom, offering a dual-camera design. Asus also unveiled the ZenFone 3 Zoom at the CES event. Asus will announce the different variants and prices before each launch. Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom goes the dual camera way and makes tall claims in comparing the device to iPhone 7 Plus, the trend-setter for dual cameras in the smartphone segment.
The depth sensing camera has an infrared projector which measures the distance to objects, while the 23MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX318 sensor and OIS lets you snap images with impressive details.
There’s no word as to how much the Asus Zenfone 2 will cost, but the firm has said that it’ll be launching towards the end of the second quarter. The phone will also be powered by a Tango-optimized version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 processor.
ASUS is one of the many device makers taking part in CES 2017, and today the company introduced two new Android smartphones. Unfortunately though, you can’t combine the two – for now you can only use Daydream apps when the phone is inside a Daydream VR headset, and Tango apps when it’s in Tango mode.
It also includes “Vapor Cooling” system to ensure that your smartphone doesn’t heat up even with heavy AR and VR apps. To optimize for Daydream, there is a 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 super AMOLED display paired with a new “immersive” five-magnet speaker that supports High-Res Audio and DTS virtual surround sound.
A look at the front and back of the Asus Zenfone AR. Its highlighting feature is the 5000 mAh battery and it is being promoted as a device that is created for photography. The smartphone has a 5.5 inch full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625.
