Cirelli, who was named one of Canada’s top three players after a 5-2 semifinal win over Sweden, drew two US penalties in the game and had a few good chances to score in his 16:55 minutes of ice time.
Colin White had a pair of goals for Team USA while Clayton Keller added a pair of assists.

The game began at a pace that was perhaps even more frantic than the ones set by Wednesday’s semi-finals and never really slowed down. The win ensures at least a silver medal for Canada, an improvement from 2016 when the team finished sixth.
Before shutting the door in the shootout, Parsons came up huge on a number of occasions for the US – none bigger than the sprawling save he made in overtime.

The Russians and Swedes will meet on Thursday in the bronze medal game at 3:30 p.m.at the Bell Centre. The University of ME will square off against Team USA forward Tage Thompson and the University of CT at 4 p.m. ET, followed by a matchup of the University of New Hampshire vs. Northeastern University at 7 p.m. ET. Canada’s quarter-final against the Czech Republic drew 10,215 fans – half of the arena’s capacity – while 13,456 fans came out to see Canada’s semi-final against Sweden.
It will be the first gold-medal game between the rivals since 2010, when John Carlson, now a Washington Capitals defenseman, scored an overtime goal to win it for the Americans. Mitchell Stephens had the other Canadian goal.
Juulsen recorded his second assist of the tournament against Sweden, setting up Dylan Strome’s goal that put Canada up 4-2. The teams failed to score during the next 32-plus minutes, which including a 20-minute sudden death overtime.
A big story in the midst of this junior hockey tournament was the disappointing attendance for Hockey Canada.
Chabot was also named the best defenceman of the tournament and best player of the final. They won their first two games by a combined score of 11-3, though it was against much weaker competition.
Washington Capitals prospect Ilya Samsonov, who had a.930 save percentage and a 2.11 goals-against average for Russian Federation, was named the top goaltender of the tournament.
