Trump slams Obamacare as ‘lie from the beginning’

Hardening battle lines for the brawl to come, President Barack Obama urged congressional Democrats to “look out for the American people” in defending his legacy health care overhaul, while Vice President-elect Mike Pence stood firm Wednesday in telling Republicans that dismantling “Obamacare” is No. 1 on Donald Trump’s list.

Should President Obama ever support an ObamaCare repeal?

But it’s not clear that Republicans can actually keep Obamacare’s insurance markets going during a transition period ― nor is it clear that Republicans actually have a way to deliver on their frequent promises to provide better coverage at lower costs.

Trump, on Twitter, has warned his fellow Republicans about their approach to Obamacare, and said they should make sure Democrats take the blame for high premiums. The poll suggests the likely “repeal and delay” agenda, in which a replacement plan is crafted months after a vote to repeal parts of the law, isn’t supported by most voters.

Trump and other Washington Republicans have campaigned nearly endlessly on the promise to dismantle ObamaCare. Delegate Neil Parrot says the repeal could be a process depending on what state you’re in. The GOP is also facing warnings from President-elect Trump and Pence, who said Wednesday he told the Congress to take caution on repealing the law as to not leave struggling families out in the cold. “But I don’t have pride of authorship on this thing, if they can come up with something better”.

“I would hope that in the course of this debate the American people will see the very profound differences we have not only on health care, not only on tax policy, but on many, many other important issues”, Sanders said.

The Affordable Care Act is no longer affordable, it never was.

“Why wouldn’t they want to say, ‘Here’s our plan”, and show why the plan is better, Obama said.

“Instead of working to further insure affordable care for all Americans, they [Republicans] seek to rip health care away from millions of Americans”, Schumer said. “In fact, many of them would result in millions of people losing coverage and the coverage being worse for those who kept it”.

As the Republican-dominated government moves to repeal the Affordable Care Act, little constructive thought is going into what, exactly, will be replacing the health care program.

“I am saying to every Republican right now”. He added that it would set up a “cliff” with harmful consequences, if lawmakers don’t approve a replacement in time.

Ryan said Republicans have a plan and “plenty of ideas” to replace Obamacare but offered few specifics.

“The Republican plan to cut the healthcare law wouldn’t make America great again, it would make America sick again and lead to chaos in the healthcare system”, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer told reporters.
