A group of black pastors Monday criticized African-American opponents of attorney general nominee Sen. White people don’t get arrested.
“I actively backed the attorneys throughout that case and they broke that case”. He rattled off a list of accomplishments created to rehabilitate his character: he worked to integrate schools in Alabama, convicted a Klansman for murdering a black teenager, and worked on a voting-rights case, among other things.
“He has a posture and positioning that I think represent a real danger to our country”, said Booker.
Those hearings kick off what is likely to be a lively week on Capitol Hill as various Senate committees grill Trump’s picks.
“One obvious concern is that the United States Congress has made the possession of marijuana in every state and distribution of it an illegal act, so that’s something that is not desired any longer, Congress should pass a law to change the rule“, Sessions added. Two men dressed as Ku Klux Klan members greeted Sessions before the confirmation began.
“These are damnably false charges”, Sessions said yesterday.
Cotton said Booker feels “compelled” to speak out against the Alabama Republican because Sessions wants to “keep criminals behind bars, drugs off our streets, and amnesty from becoming law”. “These trends can not continue”, he said. “It is a fundamental civil right to be safe in your home and your community”, he said. The attorney general “does not investigate or prosecute at the direction of the president”, Feinstein said.
“I do not take lightly the decision to testify against a Senate colleague”, Booker said.
He also obliquely addressed issues involving police brutality, and his interest in “focusing the efforts of our nation’s anti-crime apparatus in ways that more effectively enhance public safety and minimize officer misconduct”.
He also confirmed he would follow the Supreme Court ruling allowing same sex marriage. The city is now working with the Justice Department through a consent decree.
Prior to the hearing, Sessions, who has a 0 percent rating from several pro-abortion groups, was praised by the pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List. President-elect Trump has repeatedly questioned the intelligence community’s conclusions and encouraged the “country to move on to bigger and better things” after the Obama administration imposed sanctions on Russian Federation in retaliation for the hack.
