“We are continuing this commitment to make it as easy as possible for you to make informed choices about your privacy with Windows 10″, writes Terry Myerson, executive veep of Microsoft’s Windows and Devices group.

Back in November, Microsoft published a guide to how enterprise users can centrally configure their own telemetry options, but is doesn’t appear the latest announcements will change circumstances for business users.

With the new privacy dashboard, users can see what information has been collected including Microsoft Edge browsing history, Bing search history, location activities through Global Positioning System and preferences recorded by Cortana. Diagnostic data collection has been simplified from three levels to two with basic and full now available.

In other Windows 10 news, Microsoft also this week released a new Insider Preview Build, which, among other changes, gives users more control over updates.

Users can access the dashboard by following this link and logging in with their Microsoft account. Think about search history, location activity, and other similar data. I’m sure someone thought this would save you time, but many drivers are updated to coincide with the release of major games, and brand new drivers are more likely to have undiscovered issues. This includes location tracking, searching and browsing histories, and Cortana Notebook data accrued through every Windows device the user owns.

Instead, it’s going to be the lovely shade of green you see above. This details the main features of Windows 10 Insider preview build 15002 including Microsoft Edge, Start menu, personalization, the main settings, and more.

Microsoft is also reducing the amount of data collected for diagnostics, which should please the privacy police. “This includes data that is vital to the operation of Windows”. Users can right-click on an application’s.exe file to select a new DPI scaling option that uses a Windows-controlled rendering scheme that produces sharper, properly-proportioned visuals.

More importantly, we’re seeing a unifying or converging of the UI experience across desktop and mobile, which is critical for mobile devices such as Surface Pro 5 and Surface Phone.

If you do decide to send any and all information Microsoft’s way, the company promises that it won’t use any of your information for the sake of targeted advertising. From there, you can see what data’s been collected and you can change your settings or clear your data. Do they go far enough? “We’ll introduce this process in an upcoming Windows Insider build soon”.
