Ben Affleck will make a Batman film when he’s good and ready

Phew! That’s a lot of plot, and just as “Live by Night” is shifting into high gear, it grinds to a halt, throws out all that juicy, well-researched historical Boston stuff, and sends Joe down to Tampa, where he takes over Pescatore’s rum operations along with sidekick Dion Bartolo (an unrecognizable Chris Messina). He directed “Gone Baby Gone” and “The Town“, and then he did “Argo”, which won three Oscars.

It’s easily Affleck’s most ambitious film yet, one he grants he couldn’t have tackled earlier.

This time, Affleck explained it to Jimmy Kimmel and added that he went through the same long process of making Live by Night. It is claimed that Ben Affleck’s standalone movie has been delayed from production. DC Entertainment President and CCO Geoff Johns will serve as co-writer (with Affleck) and producer. Affleck the director also corrals a ton of great performances from his cast, including Chris Messina as Coughlin’s right-hand man and an unbelievable, demented turn from Matthew Maher as a member of the Klan who’s causing problems for Coughlin’s operations in Florida. While not without a few choice moments, it’s a disappointment considering how well Affleck has been doing as of late.

But Florida is not just a far cry from MA geographically, and Joe finds himself trodding on all kinds of Southern sensibilities – especially KKK ones. Before the big bad mobster can beat him to death, however, Joe winds up behind bars. When he gets out, revenge against Albert White is the only thing on his mind, so he heads to Florida to work for a rival. Pictures’ “Live By Night” on January 9, 2017 in Hollywood, California. The Batman (still a working title) is moving forward, Affleck is just trying to be careful as he satisfies the character’s legion of fans. Elle Fanning is especially memorable as a former heroine addict who seeks redemption by preaching the word of God. And, it must be said, his performance in the lead role isn’t up to snuff.

Meanwhile, Live by Night will be released on January 13 in the United Kingdom and North America, and stars Ben Affleck alongside Elle Fanning, Brendan Gleeson, Chris Messina, Sienna Miller, Zoe Saldana, and Chris Cooper. We’re gonna make it.’ We’re really excited. Even the themes regarding the American Dream and the cost of crime feel recycled. The cinematography is gorgeous.

The sprawling Live by Night is a bit episodic, with a story that might be better suited to a TV miniseries than a feature film.

There are potentially promising through-lines, however: It’s clear that Lehane and Affleck have conceived of the story as a tale about fathers and children, for instance. However, he also expressed how frustrated it is for him when people constantly ask him only about the Batman movie and ignore any of his other works.
