CNN first reported the claims on Tuesday, although did not give details, and then Buzzfeed published a 35-page dossier of allegations.

He also said the intelligence community had not “made any judgment” that the information was reliable.

Before Wednesday’s press conference, Trump repeatedly refused to accept the intelligence community’s consensus that Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 presidential election in order to help him win the White House. Steele now heads the private security and investigations firm Orbis Business Intelligence.

“A thing like that should have never been written, it should never have been had, and it should certainly never have been released“, Trump said.

The head of United States spy agencies has rejected President-elect Donald Trump’s claim that USA intelligence leaked content from a classified briefing.

“[The reports] affected my family, it affected my wife, my in-laws, my children, so that’s not OK”, Michael Cohen told Fox News’ “Hannity”, and I believe CNN and BuzzFeed and others owe them a serious apology”.

In his first press conference since winning the Presidential Election on November 08, US President-elect Donald Trump on Wednesday dismissed an unsubstantiated report alleging close links between his campaign and Russian Federation.

After the press conference, CNN posted a statement refuting Trump. Harry Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson tweeted Tuesday that the outgoing Senate Democratic leader had seen the documents before writing a public letter to FBI Director James Comey about Trump’s ties to Russian Federation.

“The US is hacked by everybody – that includes Russian Federation and China, everybody”, he said during a much-anticipated meeting with the media in NY on 11 January.

Trump held his news conference in the marble-lined lobby of Trump Tower in NY, and spoke alongside a table piled with manila file folders, which he said were the agreements he has signed giving over control of the Trump Organization to his oldest sons.

Soon after, Trump tweeted: “Russia just said the unverified report paid for by political opponents is ‘A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FABRICATION, UTTER NONSENSE.’ Very unfair!”

“Let’s go. Go ahead”, Trump said to another reporter.

In crossing one of the few lines left for mainstream news outlets, a demand for some level of verification, BuzzFeed could not have given Trump better ammunition with which to vilify the press as dishonest, biased and all the other claims he makes in trying to inoculate himself against valid criticism.
