Rams hire Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator

There are also going to be people who, there are some coaches who may say, ‘I want to coach in Los Angeles.’ There are some coaches who may say, ‘I prefer to be in a smaller market.’ I think all of those factors come in.

“He had an unusual advantage of having the ability to work with Jon, who was sort of his mentor, and he had the ability to work with Mike Shanahan, and he’s worked with Jay Gruden”, John McVay said.

McVay’s Washington offense spread the ball around impressively.
