Today is your last chance to save all of your Vine clips

January 18 03:10 2017

Last year Twitter announced it was closing Vine, the short-form video creation service and app, and today marks the last day users can download and save their Vine creations.

The day of reckoning has finally arrived: Vine as we know it will officially shut down today, leaving in its wake the pared down Vine Camera app. After you’ve finished shooting or editing your video, you will be asked to save to your camera roll or to post it on Twitter. Clicking that requests a ZIP file of all your Vines, and you’ll get an email when your file is ready to download. Vine users have expressed a mixture of sadness and acceptance at the service’s shutdown.

The new Vine Camera is likely to be launched today via an update.

If you’d rather save the vine through your phone, go to your app profile.

From January 17, the app will allow users to record videos of up to 6.5 seconds in length. Read on to find out how to download your remaining vines before it’s too late. The Vine servers will move into a limited state, refusing to accept new uploads but still hosting the main Vine website. It’s in the top right corner, right next to the “Login” button.

Snapchat and Instagram each expanded their video offerings, luring away users who might otherwise have created or consumed Vine videos.

There’s not much of a walkthrough to give for Vine Camera. Users will have the option to send all of their Vines to their linked email account or download them to your device.

But fear not, you still have time to save all your favourite videos.

There are several sites that let you quickly download videos from Vine, YouTube, or wherever.
