It’s the new Ford Mustang!

January 19 01:20 2017

THE 2018 FORD MUSTANG has launched in the U.S. boasting “even better performance from more powerful engines and new MagneRide suspension technology”.

The upcoming Ford Mustang facelift has been leaked on the internet ahead of its official reveal after video footage of the new auto was uploaded on youtube.

For those who are wondering, the 3.7-liter V6 engine will not be associated with the 2018 Mustang lineup. The 2.3-litre four-cylinder Ecoboost engine will be available in the entry level model.

Ford also says that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 mill has been modified with upgraded dual injection along with a higher redline, more power and torque. This isn’t a surprising addition after Ford touted the GT’s brilliant instrument cluster.

Debuting in California last night, the revised exterior styling includes new-look LED headlights, redesigned LED tail-lights, fresh lower bonnet and grille design, blacked out rear diffuser, quad-tip exhaust for V8 GT models and an optional performance spoiler. The Mustang’s biggest competition – Chevrolet’s Camaro and the Dodge Challenger – didn’t see almost the loss in sales that Ford reported with its Mustang. The refresh is most apparent in the front fascia, where new LED lights are the focal point. That’s how much power you get out of the current engine with Ford’s own performance upgrades, so it makes sense that it could be the new standard going forward.

The 2018 Mustangs are the first models to feature the 10-speed automatic transmission. The app can also help you by finding a parking spot in advance and even help you schedule your next service appointment.

A 12-inch digital instrument cluster (an increasingly common sight) lets you scroll between the speedometer and tach, lap timer, trip info, and more. Through the FordPass smartphone app, owners can start, lock, unlock and locate their vehicle remotely! It can be set up to display different information for the normal, sport, and track driving modes.

On the safety front, drivers will feel more confident thanks to new advanced systems like Pre-Collision Assist with pedestrian detection, distance alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a Driver Alert System. He added that Ford doesn’t yet know what the fuel economy will be for the EcoBoost or the GT, but the Americanb automaker expects to see an improvement in efficiency from the previous generation.

A manual transmission will continue to be offered on Mustang, although it’s likely most buyers will opt for the new 10-speed automatic.

The 2018 Ford Mustang goes on sale here in North America later this fall with hopefully full and detailed horsepower and torque specifications very soon.
