Nintendo spent the better part of today’s Fire Emblem Direct discussing the series’ first mobile venture, Fire Emblem Heroes.
While “Fire Emblem” may lack the worldwide brand recognition of Nintendo’s Super Mario franchise, it’s tremendously popular in Japan, with 15 games released in the series to date.
Nintendo hasn’t forgotten about its still existing Nintendo 3DS system.
Nintendo’s newest Direct event offered us a closer look at the game’s art style, story and combat.
Everything that made Gaiden unique like flexible character progression returns. Heroes will feature new voice over work from your heroes, as well as new artwork. With Super Mario Run marking the company’s second title aimed at mobile phone users, the firm has now pulled the curtain off of yet another major IP making its way to outside hardware in the form of Fire Emblem Heroes.
It didn’t show any real footage of what gameplay will be like, something that will surely change tonight. Based on how poorly Hyrule Warriors ran on the original 3DS, we’re not surprised this title is limited to the upgraded hardware. Almost every character from games like Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones and last year’s Fire Emblem Fates are on the ballot, and fans can cast a vote for their favorite once per day.
To think, we were already excited by the Nintendo Switch Presentation and their list of Fire Emblem games. Fire Emblem Heroes, the first mobile entry in a long-running series of tactical strategy games, will arrive on Android on February 2nd. There’s also a save or spend angle that incentivizes thinking about how many orbs to use at once versus how many heroes you opt to summon. You can either vote without logging in, or sign in through your Nintendo Account to earn some shiny Platinum Coins to spend on rewards like 3DS themes, game discounts, and the like. The classic Fire Emblem weapons triangle, where swords beat axes beat lances beat swords, returns.
