“While she did not take this decision lightly and respected the inauguration ceremony as a symbol of the peaceful transfer of power, “…

We can go all the way back to 1913 when some members of Congress were sympathetic to the women demanding voting rights and they skipped the inauguration of President Woodrow Wilson.

Yet Lewis, during the same “Meet The Pressinterview in which he asserted Trump is not a “legitimate president“, also had claimed Trump’s January 20 inauguration would “be the first one that I miss since I’ve been in Congress”. But this isn’t the first time Lewis has boycotted a presidential inauguration.

The Martin Luther King holiday is meant to honor community service and volunteerism, and many Americans, including President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama spend part of the day undertaking a service project in their community. “When he questioned the integrity of my friend and colleague, John Lewis, that crossed the Rubicon”.

Clayton said the polls were right, but the pundits who were predicting from those polls were wrong.

But as CNSNews.com reported, several black lawmakers decided that attending the inauguration would send a more powerful message than boycotting it. Interest rates are rising. “I mean that is who we are as Americans”, Bera said. It’s unbelievable to think that some democrats still can’t get past the agony of defeat.

“I guarantee it”, he said. “I have an obligation to the people to speak to things that I don’t think are going in the right direction”. That’s not leadership. That’s cowardice behavior.

A local Republican and Democrat each shared their hopes Thursday for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday. That’s a class act. After hanging up Young said, “Now that is a different Donald Trump than anybody has ever heard”. He also addressed the feud with Rep. John Lewis, his tweeting, their relationship with the Obamas, and the wall, among other issues.
