Samsung Galaxy S8 set to feature ‘infinity screen’ and iris scanner

January 25 09:49 2017

Samsung’s Galaxy S8 will come in two sizes, have an nearly bezel-less, edge-to-edge “infinity” display and an iris scanner, The Guardian reports exclusively.

Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to launch in April instead of February and the launch date is scheduled to be April 21st. Note that the flat-screened S7 in those countries is still waiting. It is worth noting that Samsung Electronics’ operating profit in the third quarter of 2016 significantly went downhill at the height of the Galaxy Note 7’s overheating issue and ultimately, the doomed smartphone unit’s recall worldwide. While the S8 will feature a front-facing biometric iris sensor, the fingerprint scanner will purportedly move to the rear side of the device. If true, the Galaxy S8 seems like it will be worth the wait.

Speaking with its own “well placed” sources, The Guardian has published numerous details about the Galaxy S8, many of which support other information that has surfaced in recent weeks.

This is because Samsung is actually helping Qualcomm to make the Snapdragon 835, so that is probably a reason why the company managed to get exclusivity rights to it, though nothing has been confirmed just yet, The Verge has learned.

According to The Verge, who also obtained the first image of the LG G6 phone, states that the handset’s screen-to-bezel ratio is greater than 90 percent.

Interestingly, The Guardian’s sources could not confirm the rumored name “Bixby” for Samsung’s new digital assistant which is set to debut on the new phones, but they did confirm its existence.

Along with a gap for an S Pen, the leaked case also reveals that Samsung could include a dual speaker on the S8. The South Korean Company has planned to launch its next flagship mobile device in the mid of April.

And there’s more good news for music lovers as it appears the device will have a headphone port. That’s because the new handsets will have an nearly bezel-less “infinity” display. On this dock, one can connect a monitor, keyboard, mouse and a wide range of other peripherals known as DeX or rather, Desktop extension.
