Donald Trump advances North Dakota, Keystone XL pipeline projects

January 25 23:00 2017

“If we’re going to build pipelines in the United States, the pipelines should be built in the United States”.

The Keystone XL oil pipeline, which would run from Canada to USA refineries in the Gulf Coast, was rejected in November 2015 by former President Barack Obama, following a seven-year campaign by environmentalists against it.

When Donald Trump was sworn in as President of the United States, Seattle erupted with anti-Trump protests.

Girling said most of the materials for the pipeline have already been purchased and were manufactured in North America. News organizations have blasted the Trump administration for not providing any evidence of voter fraud that would back up such a claim.

Trump, at the signing of the orders, said there will be a renegotiation of the pipeline and “if (the people) like it, we can get that built”.

Neither company responded to inquiries asking about their plans.

Both projects had been blocked by the Obama administration, partly due to environmental concerns.

Hicks did not respond to our inquiry asking whether President Trump still holds any financial stakes in the project.

Obama vetoed legislation, co-sponsored by Manchin, in 2015 approving the pipeline before rejecting the project outright later that year.

The Keystone pipeline begins in the oil sands of Alberta, Canada, flows to Nebraska, then out to Texas and IL. “It’s good for economic growth, it’s good for jobs, and it’s good for American energy”.

The resurrection of the two pipeline projects were expected from Mr. Trump, who made it a priority and part of his jobs agenda during the campaign. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe and its allies have vigorously protested the Dakota Access project, saying it would damage cultural sites.

Last month, under the outgoing Obama administration, the Army Corps of Engineers denied a permit needed for a crucial segment of the 1,172-mile Dakota Access Pipeline that would cross under the Missouri River just north of the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.

In other Trump disaster news, President Nightmares has banned employees with the Environmental Protection Agency from giving social media updates and/or speaking with reporters-they’ve also been forced to freeze their grants and federal contracts.
