“They canceled the shoe order, kept the apparel order and moved the apparel from online into stores”.
“Like with everything we buy, we make decisions season by season”. There are just five Ivanka Trump shoe and clothing items left on the Nordstrom website, all marked down 40 percent.
Luxury department store chain Nordstrom is dropping Ivanka Trump’s brand, and it doesn’t appear to be directly related to anything her father has said or done.
Nordstrom was one of the first retail partnerships for Ivanka Trump’s footwear after it was launched in 2011. Despite the Nordstrom setback, Ivanka Trump’s brand continues to push into new categories: It recently added baby bedding and fashion jewelry. Ivanka Trump products, which were displayed Thursday on the chain’s website, were no longer accessible Friday.
“Each year we cut about 10% [of brands carried] and refresh our assortment with about the same amount”, a Nordstrom spokesperson told Business Insider. Then a viral campaign – #GrabYourWallet – pushed swarms of people to vow to never buy a product from a Trump family member.
“I believe that Trump supporters can be possibly boycotting Nordstrom and shopping to another high scale retailer”.
Young, senior director of marketing at Ivanka Trump, also explained to Refinery29 that the brand is doing well, despite recent reports. We have to ask ourselves just how successful was the fashion line even before Ivanka Trump’s father ran for President. “I actually like her shoes”.
While Nordstrom didn’t address the reason directly, it indicated in a statement that it isn’t selling well. We’ve got thousands of brands – more than 2000 offered on the site alone.
So was this decision politically motivated?
The Independent revealed in July how the vast majority of Ms Trump’s clothes are not manufactured in the United States, but in China and Vietnam.
On Thursday, Shannon Coulter, the co-founder of #GrabYourWallet posted the following message on Twitter, “Big news everyone”.
Trump’s brand did not respond to a request for comment.
