Kellyanne Conway in yet another rough interview. USA officials have launched an investigation to see whether Flynn received any payment from the Russian government in exchange for the appearance – a transaction that could have violated the Logan Act, which requires prior approval for such payments from Congress. When Trump said, “I don’t know about that”, he simply meant he didn’t know about the Washington Post report specifically, Spicer claimed.

The White House official, pushing back against the idea that Flynn spoke about sanctions, raised questions about the uproar surrounding Flynn and poked holes in the criticism coming from the general’s detractors.
December 30: Russian President Vladimir Putin says he won’t retaliate against the US for the sanctions, surprising Obama administration officials. It had already denied he discussed sanctions with any official.
On Tuesday morning, Flores explained to National Public Radio he thought Flynn’s actions were “inappropriate”. “Either Trump hasn’t found the necessary independence and he’s been driven into a corner… or russophobia has permeated the new administration from top to bottom”.
Kosachev’s counterpart at the lower chamber of the Russian parliament, Alexei Pushkov, tweeted shortly after the announcement that “it was not Flynn who was targeted but relations with Russia”.
The embattled Michael Flynn resigned on Monday night, amid controversy about his contacts with Russian officials. He said the White House counsel undertook an “exhaustive review” and determined that Flynn hadn’t violated any laws, but he still weighed whether Flynn could remain effective.
