Motorola has taken the stage to release the newest entry to its Moto G lineup, the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. The software, meanwhile, pulls from more expensive flagships.

Lenovo launched two new products at Barcelona, the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus. The two will hit Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific in the beginning of March.

Thanks to the smaller screen, the Moto G5 manages to be shorter, less wide and slimmer than the Moto G4.

In South America, it’ll come to Columbia and Brazil, where the Moto G series has become extremely popular over the years.

The Moto G5 is released at the beginning of March and will cost $229 Dollars with 2GB RAM/32 GB storage, and €279 for 3GB RAM/32GB storage. That hasn’t changed with the G5, but the new metal enclosure continues to blur the line between budget and premium. The Moto Power Pack goes on sale in March for $49. A unibody phone this is not. The SIM card slot is placed on top of the device, whereas the volume rocker and power button can be found o the right edge.

A few weeks before the opening of the 2017 MWC, a leak surfaced showing what the Moto G5 smartphone from Lenovo looked like. The Moto branding – a big “M” will, of course, find a place for itself on the back. Both handsets have 5-megapixel shooters on the front.

Lenovo focused its announcement more on its Moto Mods explaining how owners of the Moto Z series often end up buying more than one mod and how the JBL speaker is on average used for 14 hours per week.

For the hardware, Moto G5 is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 430 processor and the bigger Moto G5 Plus runs on a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. You can choose from the 2/3/4GB RAM and 16/32/64GB internal storage versions but keep in mind that these versions will depend on where you live. It’s going to be country dependent.

Regarding pricing and availability, as we mentioned in the introduction, the Moto G5 won’t be launched in the US. Later this year, we’ll add Alexa integration into our phones – and you won’t have to unlock the phone first.

On the camera front, the Moto G5 packs a 13MP main camera with phase detection autofocus, while the G5 Plus sports a 12MP f/1.7 sensor with Dual Autofocus Pixels, which Motorola claims makes it capable of focusing 60 per cent faster than G4 Plus before it. It has a 3,000 mAh battery that can be turbocharged. This handset skips TurboPower support and comes with the regular 5-watt rapid charging technology.
