MWC 2017: Samsung unveils Galaxy Book, Galaxy Tab S3 with S Pen

March 02 06:54 2017

“How do I watch Samsung’s Mobile World Congress press conference?” is a question that would be on the minds of many who are unable to be there at MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. It seems like Samsung is confident that the Samsung Galaxy Book and Galaxy Tab S3 will capture the interest of the public.

The recognition given the Galaxy S7 Edge is a recognition of Samsung’s craftsmanship in design and innovation.

The sharp and detailed AMOLED screen display with 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution makes Galaxy Tab S3 more desirable especially to movie enthusiasts. The Tab S3 will have speakers by Harman-owned AKG, Samsung’s first use of the brand since agreeing to buy Harman for $8 billion a year ago. Four speakers located on the corner of the tablet will deliver surround sound, claims Samsung. Both rear and front-facing cameras have been improved to 13-megapixel and 5-megapixel respectively.

With time Galaxy Tab S2 has been update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, it now awaits to being upgraded to the Nougat OS.

Design and buildWe were initially shocked when we picked up the Galaxy Tab S3.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is a new addition to the growing family of Galaxy tablets. However, the company now offers the tablet without the stylus which will set consumers back by $799 (P40,145).

As a counter-view, some experts have mentioned that the Galaxy Tab S3 is a scaled up Galaxy smartphone whereas the iPad Pro belongs to the Apple OS ecosystem with apps specifically created to suit it. Despite not having a place to slide it in nor a magnetic part to attach it, the S Pen doesn’t need to be recharged, and its flat sides will stop it from rolling away every time you place it on a slightly uneven surface. At MWC 2017 it exclusively launched tablets, one of which is an iPad Pro rival. The device in question is the Galaxy Book, a Windows 10-powered tablet.

The general tablet market is in decline with buyers upgrading less frequently than they do with smartphones. There is a high configuration model as well, featuring 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.

Over 5 million Galaxy Note 7 smartphones were sold globally and about 90% of them were later returned to the company.

Galaxy Book is based on Window 10 OS (Operating System) and provides detachable keyboard so that it can be freely used for activities for productivity such as preparation of documents.

The tablet will be supporting something called Samsung Flow. In terms of connectivity, it is available with 4G LTE and an ample 6,000 mAh battery with the convenience of fast charging and a USB Type-C connector.
