US House panel to probe alleged Trump-Russia links

The Obama administration worked to limit the number of incoming Trump administration officials who could view highly classified information while also leaking intelligence on alleged ties between Russian Federation and President Donald Trump’s team, a report said. He said Comey repeatedly refused to answer questions about the scope and breadth of the Federal Bureau of Investigation his own probe into Russian meddling.

The FBI is also investigating alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation. The committee also said it was probing the USA government’s response to the Russian activities and possible leaks of classified information related to the intelligence committee’s assessments of the matter.

The chairman and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees, along with the top leader in each party in each chamber, receive additional secret national security information that other members do not receive.

Trump has always denied that his people were in contact with Russians. Nunes has close ties to the Trump White House and served on Trump’s transition team.

Former Obama aides told The Times that none of these efforts were directed by the former president.

“The committee is determined to continue and expand its inquiries into these areas, including Russian activities related to the 2016 USA elections”. And Grassley says he asked Sessions to send a letter to the committee, in his words, to clear up any confusion regarding his testimony so we can put this issue to bed once and for all.

Holding forth the prospect that reporters’ conversations with Russian officials could become fodder for Congressional investigations, Nunes basically threatened the press with the power of Congress.

Yeah, David Nunes just gave you another headache, Speaker Ryan.

Reportedly, several members of the administration were intentionally leaving a trail so that the Trump administration couldn’t easily brush it under the rug. Richard Burr and California Rep. Devin Nunes has sparked calls – mostly from Democrats – for a special prosecutor to investigate Russia’s role in the election and possible ties to Trump.

The statement did not refer specifically to the Trump campaign.

He said Comey ‘declined to answer those questions’.

But Trump did actually speak to Russian Federation just a few weeks ago on January 28, in a call that the Kremlin described as having “substance and sense”. The White House and Russian Federation have strongly denied the allegations.

Trump’s first national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was sacked last month after he discussed United States sanctions on Russian Federation with Kislyak before Trump took office and misled Vice President Mike Pence about the conversations.

In early December 2016 former President Barack Obama ordered that intelligence be compiled into an assessment of Russian efforts to influence the presidential election
