The Browns are reportedly ‘strongly considering’ taking Mitch Trubisky at No. 1

NFL Network’s Michael Silver, a good friend of Jackson, thinks the Browns will draft Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett at No. 1 and added Jackson doesn’t expect his favorite quarterback to be around at No. 12. The Browns are in need of a QB and they will probably use the first overall selection for one.

Can Mitch Trubisky be the Cleveland Browns’ savior?

Jackson said the organization hasn’t finalized its quarterback ranking. “I think what separates me is that I can do it all”, he said. “It’s good that he’s over 6-2”.

“I was prepared really well at North Carolina by coach Heckendorff the quarterbacks coach”, Trubisky said Friday during his media session at the NFL Scouting Combine. But over and over, Jackson spoke of being able to process information adeptly and quickly, and that is where Griffin struggles, even with improved play in the final month of the season when he returned from injury. Trubisky put together a strong 2016 season, but it is also the only starting season he has under his belt. However, he showed that he has an National Football League arm, as well as anticipation and composure for a 22-year-old quarterback.

Trubisky grew up in Mentor, Ohio, about 30 minutes outside of Cleveland.

It’s not unlike the 2014 film “Draft Day”, when a Browns general manager played by actor Kevin Costner must decide what moves to make with the top overall pick.

“We kind of have an idea but there’s no final, final (ranking) right now, ” the Browns coach said.

The good news for the Browns is the first round of the draft begins 49 days after the league year begins. Trubisky entered the draft after his junior season with the Tar Heels, with just 13 career starts. If fans are going to get agita over Brown saying not to panic, they also should take solace in the fact that the Browns want Pryor back.

1 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Jackson said he and the front office will look very hard at Trubisky and the other prospects to see if they are the answer. Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, a projected top-five pick, had surgery to fix labrum tears in both shoulders during his college career, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Now the Browns have the salary cap capacity to match – and if they choose, exceed – any offer that Pryor would receive, but that is only based on if his agent comes back to the Browns with a second chance. Last year, Jackson famously doctored the footballs to see how Jared Goff and Carson Wentz would respond to playing with a wet ball. Just like Garrett, Allen is a player that the Browns can build their defense around.
