The launches will also ramp up tension between Pyongyang and Beijing, a long-time ally of the internationally isolated regime which is becoming increasingly impatient with North Korea’s destabilizing actions on the world stage.

The station in Tongchang-ri, North Pyongan Province, has been the site of previously long-range rocket tests.
